Open a French bank account
We make the appointment for you and come to the bank with you to explain everything. For example, if you want a cheque book or credit card: the monthly cost, how much cash you can draw out per week with your card, how to ask for a new cheque book when the old one is nearly finished.
Connecting electric, water and phone
We’ll arrange the connections to be done when it suits you and work out which contract is best for you. We also organise the standing order so that you don’t have to worry about being cut off because the bill was in France and you were in England! If you’re property hasn’t got electric and water supply yet, we will sort out all the paper work and meet the suppliers for you to be connected.
Insurances
We’ll arrange all your insurances for you (property and its contents, vehicle, health, animals, business…) we’ll make the appointment and come with you to find out which contracts you need. For example, you need different contracts if you’re self employed or an employee.
Garden maintenance
We’ll find someone to look after your garden and we’ll come when the gardener first meets you to explain everything you want him to do, how often you want it done. We’ll even contact him everytime you go back to England if you wish. We’ll obviously negotiate prices for you.
Building services
If you need to modify your house, will advise you whether you can do it or if you need an authorisation from the mairie, or a planning permission. We can even do all the paper work for you and draw the plans with you to make sure everything is the way you want it to be. If the house is over 170m2 will give you the details of a bilingual architect. (That’s the law)
Once we can do the work, we’ll find you the appropriate tradesmen (builder, roofer, electrician, plumber, plasterer, etc) We’ll arrange a meeting and assist you to explain the work you want doing. We’ll also come over when the job is finished to check that you’re happy with it before to pay the tradesman. But all the tradesmen we will recommand to you will be friendly and attentive to your needs and wishes and will be reliable.
Septic tank
We’ll advise you whether you need to change it or not. If you do, we’ll sort out all the paper work and supervise the septic tank’s installation.
Materials
We can order materials for you with timed deliveries and assist you at the delivery (if needed) to make sure you have what you wanted. For some materials, we will be able to get you a discount as we are well known from suppliers. (plasterboard, tiles, fibreglass, etc)
Appointments
We can make any appointments you need (doctors, garage, hairdresser, school, etc.).
Business help
We can sort out websites, brochures, leaflets, advertising, etc. for your business.
Collect post
We also collect your post when you’re away.
Satellite installation
We can install French or English satellite for you.
